Suspension of Michael Woods in 2020
In the spirit of full disclosure and transparency, Michael Woods who is the principal of Security Plus Law, was suspended for six months in 2020 by the Law Society of Ontario for events dating back to 2006. After an eight year investigation, Mr. Woods agreed to this suspension to end the stress associated with this procedure.
He was reinstated by the LSO in June, 2021. Practice restrictions were imposed were on Mr. Woods relating to private mortgages which he believes are totally unreasonable and were agreed to for the express purpose of ending this never ending investigation. He has closed more than 2,500 private mortgages since 1990 without any complaint that the transaction was not completed correctly. He is now in the process of applying to the LSO to have these restrictions removed.
Also in 2021, Mr. Woods applied to be reinstated to the Ontario electronic registration system and was granted reinstatement by the Director of Land Titles for Ontario.
