The basic estate package in Ontario consists of a Will, a Power of Attorney for Property, and a Power of Attorney for Personal Care. We have prepared hundreds of these estate packages for our clients.
What should be included in these documents is dictated by each person’s circumstances. To create these documents requires taking a “holistic approach” to each client’s personal situation. What this means is that we evaluate all of your personal circumstances in creating documents that address all the important issues in your life.
Some individuals and families may benefit from the use of more sophisticated estate planning tools such as “estate freezes”, “family trusts” and other estate planning tools to limit capital gains exposure and pass on future increases in the value of assets to children and grandchildren.
We also can also assist if you are involved in administering an estate. These services include filing probate applications, liquidating estate assets, and reporting to beneficiaries.
Finally, our estates practice includes estate litigation should the same be required, including contesting Wills and holding estate trustees and appointed attorneys accountable.
Our fee for all estate matters will be based on time spent. The simple reason is that a “one size fits all” simply does not work as everyone’s circumstances are different.
